Terms of Service
Last updated: August 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Decemberwood Pty Ltd, trading as Epic English ("Epic English", "we", "us"), for your use of epicenglish.com.au and the Epic English service.
1. The service
Epic English is a spelling practice platform. You create word lists, practise and test spelling with generated audio, and track progress. We update and improve the service continually, and features may change over time.
2. Your account
You must be 16 or older to create an account. A learner under 16 uses Epic English through an account created, and consented to, by their parent, guardian, or educator, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity on your account.
3. Trial
New accounts start with a 7-day free trial with full access. No payment details are required to start a trial. When the trial ends, practice access pauses until you subscribe; your word lists and progress are retained.
4. Subscription and billing
- Premium is a weekly subscription, currently A$10.00 per week including GST, billed through our payment provider, Stripe. The current price is always shown at the point of purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically each week until you cancel.
- If a renewal payment fails, we retry it; access may be suspended until payment succeeds. You can update your payment method in the billing portal.
- We may change subscription pricing. If we do, we will tell you by email at least 14 days before the new price takes effect, and the change applies from your next renewal after that notice.
5. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time, from Settings, then "Open billing portal", then "Cancel subscription".
Cancelling stops the renewal, not your access. Your subscription stays fully active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and ends then. You will not be charged again. Your word lists and progress are retained, and you can resubscribe at any time.
6. Refunds
Our Refund and Cancellation Policy explains refunds. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service: no attempting to breach security or access other people's data, no reselling the service, no using it to store or distribute unlawful content, and no automated bulk use that degrades the service for others.
8. Your content
Word lists and other content you create remain yours. You give us the licence needed to operate the service on your behalf (storing your lists, generating audio for your words, computing your progress). Your lists, audio, and progress are retained while your account exists, including through a paused trial or a cancelled subscription, so returning picks up where you left off. If your account is deleted at your request, we delete or de-identify the personal information and content associated with it, except records kept for billing, tax, fraud prevention, disputes, or legal compliance, as described in the Privacy Policy's retention section.
9. Service availability and liability
We work to keep Epic English available and reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. To the extent permitted by law, and except for the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (which cannot be excluded), we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the service or the cost of re-supplying it.
10. Ending or suspending an account
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
You can request deletion of your account at any time from Settings, which opens an email to our support team. Send the request from the email address associated with your account; we reply to that address to confirm the request, and the account is deleted once your confirmation is received. Deletion is handled by our support team, so it is not automatic or immediate.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means the updated terms apply.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Questions and notices: support@epicenglish.com.au.
