Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
At Epic English, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Personal Information: When you register for an account, we collect your name and email address. Payment-card details are collected and handled by our payment provider, Stripe; Epic English never receives or stores your card number.
- Consent Attestation Record: When you create an account, we record your confirmation that you are 16 or older and, where a learner under 16 will use the account, that you are their parent, guardian, or educator consenting to their use of Epic English, together with the version of that statement and the time you confirmed it.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our platform, including your learning progress, completed exercises, and usage patterns.
- Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access our services, including browser type, IP address, and operating system.
- Acquisition Information: We record how you reached Epic English, taking the first marketing link or referral we see before you sign up. That means the campaign parameters carried in the link you followed (source, medium, campaign, term, and content), Google and Facebook click-ID parameters carried in the web address, the full web address of the page that referred you, including anything its own address carried, the address of the page you first landed on including everything in its query string, and when we observed it. We record which of these we ended up with, whether that was a marketing link or referral we could read, an apparently direct visit, no information reaching us at all, information we could not validate or that named no usable link or referral, or an account created before we collected any of this. We also store an identifier for your signup attempt, which lets us match that attempt to the records it left in our logs. We keep this record for your account, together with the dates we recorded that you created the account, first completed a session, started a trial, and subscribed. We use this to understand which campaigns and referrals bring people to Epic English and how many go on to subscribe. This record is deleted when your account is deleted.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience, analyse usage patterns, and provide personalized content.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain our services, including personalising your learning experience
- To process payments and communicate with you about your account
- To improve our platform based on user feedback and usage patterns
- To send you product updates
- To measure which campaigns and referrals bring people to Epic English, so we can decide where to keep advertising
Data Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Service Providers: Third-party vendors who help us provide our services, such as payment processors
- Legal Compliance: When required by law
Data Retention and Deletion
While your account exists, we retain your account data, word lists, generated audio, and learning progress. This includes accounts on a paused trial and accounts whose subscription has been cancelled, so that if you return, your lists and progress are exactly where you left them. We do not delete your data just because your account is inactive or your subscription has been cancelled.
You can request deletion of your account at any time from Settings, which opens an email to our support team. Send the request from the email address associated with your account; we reply to that address to confirm the request, and the account is deleted once your confirmation is received. Deletion is handled by our support team, so it is not automatic or immediate.
When your account is deleted, we delete or de-identify the personal information and content associated with it. The exception is records we need to keep for billing, tax, fraud prevention, handling disputes, or legal compliance, which we retain only as long as those purposes require.
Payment-card data is handled by Stripe, our payment provider, not by Epic English; deleting your Epic English account does not delete records Stripe retains under its own obligations.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access and review your personal information
- Correct inaccuracies in your personal information
- Delete your personal information
- Object to the processing of your personal information
- Request a copy of your personal information
Children's Privacy
Creating an Epic English account requires being 16 or older. A learner under 16 uses Epic English through an account created, and consented to, by a parent, guardian, or educator: at signup, the account creator confirms they are 16 or older and, where a learner under 16 will use the account, that they are that learner's parent, guardian, or educator consenting to their use of Epic English. We do not knowingly allow a learner under 16 to create their own account. If you believe an account has been created by someone under 16 without an adult's consent, please contact us at support@epicenglish.com.au.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
